How to Grow an Avocado
Avocados are in season right now. I’ve seen stacks of them at the grocery stores recently. Growing an avocado from a pit is very easy and makes a wonderful science experiment to share with your students.

Emerson Elementary: Butterfly Contest Winners 2018
Wow, check out this great video from Emerson Elementary in Maywood, Illinois! West 40 ISC#2 School District sponsored a Butterfly Video Contest at all of their elementary schools. The PreK and 2nd grade classes at Emerson Elementary won a pizza party for all of the butterfly learning that they showed in their videos. Way to fly!

Every spring, the #1 favorite activity of our teachers is observing the transformation of live caterpillars into fabulous butterflies. Students are mesmerized! They love to learn about insect anatomy, pollination and, of course, metamorphosis, and they can see it with their own eyes.
