Celebrate Planet Earth!
Walk barefoot on green grass! Wade in a stream! Hug a tree! Every single day – Celebrate Planet Earth! #celebrateplanetearth
Take the Planet Earth Pledge
It’s so important to join together and take the Planet Earth Pledge as a class, a club or a family. It helps remind us of what it means to love and protect the Earth. And here is a PDF poster so you can hang it on a bulletin board or wall.
Mass Migration of Painted Lady Butterflies in California
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/17/us/migrating-painted-lady-butterflies.html
What a wonderful article from the Sunday New York Times – 3/17/19! If the painted ladies are migrating into warm Southern California in record numbers than they will probably start arriving in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as those states warm up. Seeing your first butterfly every spring is a great reason to celebrate Planet Earth!
Butterfly Care
Taking care of painted lady caterpillars is easy! Every package of caterpillars comes with a Life Cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly and on the back of the poster are care instructions to help you and your students.
Also, here is an 8.5×11 PDF of Painted Lady Butterfly Care Instructions – everything you need to know from when the caterpillars arrive until the adult butterflies are ready to be released outside on a sunny day.

How to Grow an Avocado
Avocados are in season right now. I’ve seen stacks of them at the grocery stores recently. Growing an avocado from a pit is very easy and makes a wonderful science experiment to share with your students.
