Paulie planted these sunflower seeds that were sent home by his first grade teacher at McArthur Elementary. Paulie is in a self contained class for autistic children. He helped plant and water them every day until they started blooming much to our excitement! We noticed that they seemed small, so we researched and found out it was because they didn’t have enough sun! (Shocker, right?) We have a shady yard, so we are happy with our dwarf sunflowers, and we will definitely plant them again. We ended up with about 14!
ZZ, 6 years old, planted sunflower seeds two weeks ago. Today, two sprouted and he is super happy.
A Butterfly on a Sunflower
A beautiful photo from a classroom in North Carolina!
Adrian, 8years old, 3rd grade, planted his sunflower seed and has been taking care of it. He’s excited it started to sprout.
Look at the Butterfly Project at Blackwater Regional Library in Virginia. Children that visited the library could observe the caterpillars growing and changing into butterflies, and also choose a children’s book about butterflies to read at home. Blackwater Regional Library was sponsored by International Paper – Franklin Mill.
